Frequently asked questions

Further information about registering for access to the Springer Nature press site can be found in the FAQs below. Journalists who have completed the registration process can also browse our FAQs for registered media when logged on to the site.

How do I sign up to receive press releases from the journals published by Springer Nature?

The Springer Nature press site provides access for journalists to our press releases, scientific papers and any additional materials, such as accompanying multimedia and commentaries. Please complete the registration form on our registration page. As part of the registration process, you will be asked to send the following confirmation of your status as a journalist to press@nature.com:

1. Three clippings of relevant work published in the last six months. The clippings must be by-lined and dated and should clearly display the name of the publication. Emailed links to online clippings are acceptable, so long as they are easily accessible without any registration procedures.

2. An email confirming your status as a journalist. If you are a staff journalist, this must be from your manager and from a company email address. If you are a freelance journalist, this must be from an editor at an outlet that you write for and from a company email address.

I have registered for an account on the press site but when I try to log on, the site tells me my account is awaiting approval. How can I get access?

It is likely that you have registered for access to the Springer Nature press site but have not provided us with the necessary material for us to activate your account. In order for us to do so, you will need to send the following confirmation of your status as a journalist to press@nature.com:

I have a press site account but when I try to log on, the site tells me my account is under review. Why is this?

We put accounts on hold when press releases we send bounce back too many times or if we have a concern regarding your account or affiliation. Please contact press@nature.com to resolve this issue.

I am a press officer or public information officer; how can I register to receive press releases from the journals published by Springer Nature?

Currently, only working journalists may register for access to the Springer Nature press site. However, please contact press@nature.com if you would like to be added to our press officer database to receive notifications of upcoming papers from your institution in the journals published by Springer Nature.

Please note that we are not able to notify you about the upcoming publication of every paper published by Springer Nature, as we publish hundreds of papers each week. In particular, for the BMC and Springer portfolios, Nature Communications, Scientific Reports, the Nature Reviews journals, the Communications journals and the Nature Partner Journals, we are only able to notify you of papers that we are press releasing or which have been flagged to us by editors. If you have any questions about a specific paper that has been accepted for publication in a Springer or BMC journal, please contact pressoffice@springernature.com and we will do our best to help you.

For further information for press officers about Springer Nature journals, content or policies, please refer to this page.

I am a research scientist who blogs/also works as a freelance writer; can I receive your press releases?

For conflict of interest reasons, we do not currently provide early access to not-yet-published research to practising scientists.
